Boating safety – revised electrical Standards
10 December 2008
The Standard for Electrical installations in marinas and on recreational boats, AS/NZS 3004, has been revised. The revised Standard is an essential safety reference for marina owners and operators, boat designers, manufacturers, builders, and regulators, dealing with electrical installations on board, or at a marina.
AS/NZS 3004 is now in two parts:
- Electrical installations – Marinas and recreational boats – Marinas, AS/NZS 3004.1:2008: Specifies requirements for electrical installations associated with marinas supplied at low-voltage a.c. supply systems.
- Electrical installations – Marinas and recreational boats – Recreational boats installations, AS/NZS 3004.2:2008: Specifies requirements for electrical installations on small boats.
The Standards supersede Electrical installations – Marinas and pleasure craft at low-voltage, AS/NZS 3004:2002.
The Standards are available from Standards New Zealand: www.standards.co.nz (keyword 3004), or call the customer services team on 0800 782 632.
